Monk On A Mission

Master Hui Li, surveying the land in Lesotho where a new orphanage will soon be breaking ground.
Shapes of the Buddha carved into consecutive brick walls in the garden.
Edward (as we knew him), one of the younger monks at ACC, in the vegetable garden.
Some of the children enjoy building village scenes with clay and found objects. ('GOROSARE' would be kid's spelling for 'GROCERY')
Albert, quite possibly the cutest kid in the whole place, on the steps of the temple after morning prayers. We all fell head over heels in love with him.
I never got this little girl's name - but she's also pretty insanely cute.
Some of the teachers and carers after morning temple.
For the king-fu kids, there's an hour of exercise to get through before breakfast. The end of a lap aorund the premises culminates in a dash up the stairs.
Limbering up for kung-fu practice.
Four or five young kung-fu experts from China live at the orphanage and give lessons - in Chinese culture as well as martial arts - twice daily. Here some of the kids are learning the finer points of a leaping kick to the face
Tiger style kung-fu, on a hill above the orphanage.
Crane style kung-fu, on a hill above the orphanage.
Monkey style kung-fu, on a hill above the orphanage. Enoch is one of the brightest stars in the kung-fu academy.
The squad assembles to commence training.
Morning prayers and chanting commences in the temple at approximately 5 a.m. The kids need to wake up, dress and get up the hill in good time, meaning they usually need to wake up at around 4:30 a.m.
Prayers and meditation.
Basic mielie pap (maize meal) being prepared for breakfast.
One of the younger monks checks in on breakfast.
A worker in the ACC compound.
The Amitofo Care Centre School.
Maths lesson.
Happily learning... or perhaps daydreaming about kung-fu practice after school.
Drawings up on the wall in the childrens' dormitory display their deep fascination and passion for traditional Chinese martial arts.

Master Hui Li's misison continues. By his estimation it will take him three lifetimes to build an orphanage in every African country...
